Three weeks before …
Now is the time to start thinking about booking a removal company. It’s a good idea to ring around and get a few quotes. Just remember to ask about packing and unpacking, and if they supply boxes. If they don’t, you’ll need to get some of your own and start packing all the things you won’t need before moving day. It’s also worth booking the relevant people if you need any appliances disconnecting at your old address and re-fitting at your new one.
Two weeks before – not long now!
With just two weeks until moving day it’s time to get rid of any clutter or belongings you don’t want to take with you – including those hidden away in lofts and sheds! If you have children or pets, you might want to make arrangements so they’re out of the way too. It’s usually easier and less stressful when you know they’re in safe hands for the day.
One week to go …
With just 7 days until moving day you’ll probably start ramping up the packing. Clearly labelling boxes now will really pay off once you’re unpacking in your new home, so have plenty of marker pens and labels to hand. And don’t forget to remove all the fixed objects not included in the sale. It’s also a good idea to give your removal company another call, just to confirm things with them.
The day before!
Hopefully most things are now packed and ready to go to your new home, so now is the time to think about what to keep with you on the day. For example, you’ll need your mobile phone (fully charged) with all the useful telephone numbers stored on it, like your solicitor and removal company. You might also want to have a bag with some food and drink with you, along with some spare clothes, toiletries and the kettle. Before you leave, don’t forget to pack everything from the freezer and defrost it if needed. Then just give everything a quick clean before you say goodbye to your old house and begin life in your new one.
On moving in day …
Your Barwood Homes Sales Advisor and/or Site Manager will be on hand to take the meter readings for your new home, hand over the keys and answer any last minute questions that you may have. Your dedicated Customer Care Co-Ordinator will be in touch within the following few days to ensure you are settling in to your new home and provide you with any additional guidance and support.
